The guided nature walk

Go for a walk…and get to know Africa

To really appreciate the wonders of the Kenyan bush, you have to leave the safari vehicle behind; and take a walk. Slow in pace, wide-ranging in scenery, led by one of our trained safari guides, and accompanied by an armed Kenya Wildlife Service ranger, our Tsavo nature walks are designed to offer gentle exercise and a fascinating insight into the world of African trees, flowers, insects, reptiles, birds and animals.

Your choice of walks in Tsavo West:

Kenya, an ornithologist's paradise

With over 1, 070 species of birds, Kenya has the second-highest country bird list in Africa, while Tsavo West National Park boasts 600 recorded species. Highlights of the birdlife include those of the semi-arid zone, such as ostrich and golden pipit while perhaps the most conspicuous are the white-headed buffalo weaver and the brilliantly plumaged golden-breasted starling.

A variety of hornbills are also prevalent as are such hole-nesting birds as parrot, barbet and roller. The Park is also famous for its Palaearctic migratory bird-banding project at Ngulia Lodge.

For the amateur and serious ornithologist alike, we offer a range of half or full day outings which can be custom-tailored to the interests of your ornithological party. The services of a professional ornithologist and up-to-date bird checklists are included, and picnics, bush lunches, camp suppers and sundowners can be scheduled to suit your needs.
