Hunza
Hunza valley is located on the left side of Hunza River starting from Hussainabad (50 Kilometer from Gilgit) up to Khunjrab pass, bordering in the north with Peoples Republic of China and in the west with Afghanistan. Baltit one of the oldest settlements of Hunza (probably in eleventh century) was the capital for about 960 years and was ruled by the Mir family. Their rule came to an end in 1973 when the Government of Pakistan abolished all the kingdoms in Northern Areas. Baltit is now generally known as Karimabad. Karimabad is the center of Hunza and located at an elevation of 8000 feet, (400 meter.) from the sea level. It is a two hours drive from Gilgit through the Karakorum Highway (105 kilometers). Altit Fort and Baltit Fort are 870 and 770 years old respectively, the glorious heritage of Hunza.

Much has been written and spoken about Hunza, mostly by westerner tourists. Hunza has been called roof of the world, heaven on the earth, Shangri-La etc. Nature spreads beautifully throughout the valley with its snow capped peaks to glaciers, river and picturesque landscaping. People here are hardworking, congenial and friendly. The origin of Hunza people is vague. Some of them look European (especially Celtic) many with brown or russet hair and green or blue eyes. They speak Burushaski language, an indigenous language with no apparent link to any existing language family. The best time of year to visit Hunza is April to October. Blossoms, summer and autumn, all three fabulous seasons have their own unique charm, which cannot be described in words but can only be felt, like listening to sweet music or breathing in fresh air.

Hunza Baltit Inn
Hunza Baltit Inn, a 20-room hotel is located at a prime location of Karimabad. The Inn is situated on a sloping hill of 6 acres, facing the valley. While sitting in its verandas one can see Ulter peak (7510 mtr.), lady finger and famous Baltit Fort (770 years old) on its right and on its left the Mount Rakaposhi, Diran peak, Nagar valley and the Hunza river. Behind the hotel the historical Samarqand Cohal (water channel 200 years old and 10 kilometer long) running with ice-cold glacier water, with poplar trees lining the channel...
