Rose and Jasmine Gardens This 20,360 sq. metres rose garden is famous for its roses. It has 250 different varieties of roses as well as a dozen types of Jasmines. Flower shows are usually held in spring. Located nearby is the Tourist Camping site
Shakarparian Shakarparian hills are located just at the entrance of Islamabad city, at a height of 609 meters. Its terraced garden offers pleasant and sweeping vistas of Margalla and Murree hills, Rawal Lake and surrounding areas
Rawal Lake This glistening man-made lake covers an area of 8.8 sq. km. The terraced garden and the lake are ideal for picnic, fishing and sailing. The main recreational features around the lake are a beautiful park, trails, walk ways, picnic spots, angling and riding facilities
Daman-e-Koh This low hill overlooking Islamabad, known as Daman-e-Koh, offers panoramic view of Islamabad. The place is ideal for afternoon and evening outings with family and friends
Pir Sohawa Continuing uphill from Daman-e-Koh are many lovely picnic spots some 25.8 km deep in the forest of Pir Sohawa gali with an outdoor BBQ restaurant at the top with an exceptional view of the twin cities
The Institute of Folk Heritage This institute provides a glimpse into the folk culture of Pakistan. It houses a folk music library, folk jewellery, costumes and other indigenous musical instruments. The institute is located at Shakarparian Islamabad. Museum and Library timings are 8:30am to 4:00pm - Sunday closed
Islamabad Museum Islamabad Museum presents a long historic sequence of the land where Pakistan is situated today. 20 million years old fossil remains, 2 million years old man-made stone tools, 7000 years old early human settlements which leads to the world famous Indus Civilization Grave Culture and Ghandhara Art, early Islamic settlement and Mughal period, their art and craft. The Museum is located at House 41, Street 3, E-7, Islamabad. It is open for visitors. Thursday to Tuesday from 9:30am to 16:30pm
Shah Faisal Mosque One of the largest mosques in Asia, about seven kms. from the hotel. Pillar less; centrally air-conditioned dome can accommodate more than one hundred thousand people for prayers
Islamabad Sports Complex A sports complex comprising Liaqat Gymnasium for indoors and Jinnah Stadium for outdoor games, has been built with Chinese assistance. Regular national and international sports events are held in the Complex
Lok Virsa The Lok Virsa (National Institute of Folk and Traditional Heritage) works towards preserving the living folk and traditional culture of Pakistan. Its Folk Heritage Museum, located near Shakarparian Hills, has a large display of embroidered costumes, jewellery, woodwork, metalwork, block printing, ivory and bone work. Traditional architecture facades exhibiting such skills as fresco, mirror work, marble inlay, tile mosaic and stucco tracery are also displayed
Lok Virsa Heritage Reference Library is equipped with resource data on ethnography, anthropology, folk music, art history and crafts.
Art Galleries Idara Saqafat-e-Pakistan (Pakistan National Council of Arts) runs two art galleries, where contemporary Pakistani art is on permanent display beside revolving exhibitions and paintings available for sale. The other is the Children Art Palace where children's art work is on display and regular art classes are held for children
Ayub National Park National Park covers an area of about 2,300 acres and has a lake, an aquarium, a garden restaurant and an amusement park for children
Army Museum Army Museum, houses a rare collection of military weapons
Bazaars The bazaars in Rawalpindi offer exciting bargains. You can leisurely browse in the quaint old Saddar Bazaar, Raja Bazaar and Murree Road. Sarafa Bazaar is famous for beaten gold and silver jewellery as well as for brass and copper ware. Rawalpindi specializes in handicraft items; inlay sheesham furniture, Kashmiri silver, shawls and jackets, embroidered and woollen kurtas, cane baskets and furniture, walking sticks and carpets
