Serena Mountain Lodge - “Tree Hotel”
Sailing like an ark amid the primeval forests of Kenya's highest mountain, Mount Kenya, this timbered tree hotel offers champagne-clear mountain air, sweeping views across the tree-canopy, sparkling trout streams, and gentle forest walks. On the lower slopes of the mountain, the lodge is cool, tranquil and hushed for optimum game-sightings. The open-air viewing-deck looks down on to its own water hole and salt-lick, which attracts numerous animals. Elephant, buffalo and waterbuck are regular visitors to the waterhole. The surrounding dense rainforest comes alive at dusk with a myriad of sounds that make the African bush so special and exhilarating!
There is also a tunnel leading to a photo-hide, which offers spectacular viewing and photographic opportunities just metres away from the wildlife at the water hole. Activities include guided walks through the forest, trout fishing in the clear mountain streams, trips to the high moorlands of the mountain, and 5-day luxury climbs of the mountain.
Mount Kenya at 5,199 m is Kenya's highest mountain, a national icon, a climbers' Mecca, the nation's namesake, a UNESCO Natural World Heritage site and a wildlife stronghold. One of the world's highest National Parks, it is also an extinct volcano some three and a half million years old and the sacred home of Ngai, God of the Kikuyu people.

Mara Serena Safari Lodge
Perched on the saddle of a hill, the Mara Serena Safari Lodge has one of the most spectacular views imaginable across the vast plains, forests and rivers that make up the Maasai Mara – one of the world’s richest wildlife sanctuaries. It is on this very terrain that the annual migration takes place when millions of zebra, wildebeest and gazelle cross the plains below, on their way to the rich new grasses of the Serengeti. This is a spectacle that should be witnessed at least once in a lifetime. (End of July/August is an ideal time to witness the spectacle though timings may vary depending on natural reasons i.e the rains).
The lodge has been designed to mirror a traditional Maasai village or Manyatta and all the guest rooms are located in individual domed huts grouped in a circular manner. The furnishings of each room have been inspired by traditional Maasai art and each one has a private balcony with views that stretch over the vast African landscape.

Dinner and Overnight at the Mara Serena Safari Lodge
Full day in the Mara with morning and afternoon game drives in the Reserve. Certainly the most frequented game reserve in Kenya, Masai Mara is a magnificent landscape of open plains bisected by the
Mara River and its tributaries, and punctuated by marshes and forests. This 650 sq kilometer reserve supports the highest density of game to be seen anywhere considering its size. During the seasonal migrations, Masai Mara is home to up to a million wildebeest and an equally impressive number of zebra that move into the area from neighbouring Serengeti National Park, in Tanzania. The reserve is home to all the “big five” and it is also possible to observe; baboon, eland, ostrich, bat-eared fox, jackal, Cheetah, and the rivers abound with hippos and crocodiles.
The Mara is also noted for its abundance of lions - particularly the superb black manned males. You'll see lots of elephants here often in large herds, as well as - if you're lucky - leopard, cheetah and rhino. All of the Big Five are residents. You're sure to see the African buffalo. Get the cameras ready, stock up on Film and enjoy yourself!
This morning, crown your game viewing experience with a “Bush Breakfast” by the Mara River Hippo Pools! A 15 minutes drive gets you to a hearty welcome; one cannot resist the charming “Jambo” from the chefs as they welcome you to our wonderfully set breakfast buffet of hot dishes made to your specification as you wait. The hippos keep you company and only say “Kwaheri” after you have had enough.
