Kwita Izina- The Biggest Cultural Ceremony Ever
01/ 07/ 2014: How much do you know about Rwanda, the people, and possibly some of the most exciting cultural practices in the history of Rwanda?
Well, the gorilla naming ceremony- popularly known as the “Kwita Izina” is taking place today!
This year, Rwanda is holding this annual event at the Volcanoes National Park in Kinigi. Up to 18 baby mountain gorillas have been named today as part of ongoing conservation efforts to protect Rwanda’s endangered mountain gorillas.
The event attracted over 5,000 residents of Musanze District as well visitors from all over the world, and was celebrated under the theme ‘A Decade: Conserving-Empowering-Growing’.
