Bush luxury in the Selous
The Selous Serena luxury camp is an oasis of calm, beauty and luxury in the midst of the Selous Game Reserve.
The luxury tents are remarkable, with four poster beds, crow foot bathtubs and even a chandelier.
The dining area overlooks a bore water fed pool that provides an evening bath for the hippos of the district as the waterholes in the area dry up. The same hippos can wander through the camps and the staff are mindful of security and the safety of guests.
The dining staff are always friendly and helpful, working to ensure you remain well fed and can fir in with any requirements such as an early start for your safari drive. Thoroughly recommended, and a special commendation for our guide Aniset who seem to have a lucky charm that attracts the elephants. I strongly recommend a day tour of the nearby Rufiji River, with elephants, hippos, crocodiles, baboons, and even lion to be seen on the water's edge.
The efforts of the team to ensure minimal impact on the local environment were really appreciated.
Superb safari experience
A fantastic safari experience in the luxury of Selous Serena Camp. Run on a small and personal scale, our 'tent' was amazing, taken great care of by Heavenlight. The full day game drives were fantastic, with our excellent guide Anicet, the real wild Africa, and a beautiful river trip with guide Saidi. Excellent lodge, great food, the whole Camp superbly managed by Elliete. The service and attention to detail was outstanding.
Wonderful staff and safari
'My girlfriend and I stayed for 3 days at Selous Serena Camp.
Staff was very professional and friendly and our Safari guide could not have been better. The "tents" where basically luxury cabins and the fact that staff walked you to to the restaurant at night in case of hippos or lions being around just added to the excitement.
A big plus is that you can choose daily activities yourself like safari or boat tours depending on what you prefer seeing or doing on the day.
Would like to give a big thanks to Shedrack at Serena Dar es Salaam who helped me book the safari and flights to and from Selous.
Would highly recommend Selous Serena Camp to anyone interested in a Safari.'
Melanie and I just wanted to say how grateful we are for the wonderful time that was arranged for us in Tanzania. Our memories of The Selous will stay with us for ever; it is a remarkable place and the two Serena camps could not have been better. All your staff at the camps and in Dar should be congratulated for their professionalism and for the way in which they looked after us in an unobtrusive and considerate manner.
“Perfection at all levels, definitely a lifetime experience!”
What else to say .... EVERYTHING was just so perfect : from the camp itself, the georgous tent with all the comfort, the very professional and very attentive staff, the excellent food from the kitchen and the careful service, as well as the experienced guide and driver ...
To me, traveling to Selous was more than a 24 hour trip to reach there, but just to spend 4 days in Selous Serena Camp I would definitely say that it Worth it at 100% and would do it again without no hesitation but this time with my child! To see up to 9 lions in one day in their wild evironment and at 3 meters of distance is such a lifetime experience!
As some other people mentioned on their own reviews, on of the highlight of the stay is the staff who couldn't be more friendly and helpful, it's definitely a big part of the experience at Selous Serena Camp.
Recommended on the warmest. Great service, beautiful "rooms" (expanded tents) with all you need, informal and friendly - yet very good atmosphere. A full day safari is recommended as most animals are best seen 1 hour drive or so from the lodge. Good secure cars and great guide/ranger. Very nice and tasteful food (all inclusive) and good wine. What more can you ask for?
An experience of a lifetime!”
Just back from the Selous Luxury Camp, and could not have had a better time. The camp feels like you have gone back in time, with an antique-feel to everything but done in a modern way. The highlight of the experience for us was the staff, who could not have been more kind, friendly or helpful. Specifically, the camp manager Ellieta was a delight to meet and very helpful on some special requests we had. If you go to Selous, I highly recommend the Serena Camp!

“The stay, the experiences, the staff, the camp: PERFECT”
I had this dream about celebrating my 50 years birthday together with my family in Africa. And my dream was also to wake up in the bush at my birthday. I started saving money for this some years ago. Last winter I bought tickets for the seven of us for the flight to Tanzania. And we started planning. My uncle who lives in Dar es Salaam helped me to find a nice safari.
And I just want to thank you so much for a fantastic stay in your camp.
I celebrated my birthday the 26th of December. I was there with my husband, my oldest son and his girlfriend, my daughter and her boyfriend and my youngest son. My uncle, his wife and their two children were also there.
The way you were singing and dancing with your stab giving me the cake was so nice. I just loved it! (We tried to film all of it, but the camera didn´t work…..)
Everything was so perfect in the camp. All of you working there were kind and helpful, the food was delicious, the rooms were charming, the beds were good and the place was just beautiful.
I really, really, really do hope I will come back.
So, thank you so much!
