By air: daily, one-hour, PIA (Pakistan International Airlines) flights (Boeing 737) operate between Islamabad International Airport and Skardu Airport, which is a 45-minute drive from the Residence. The Residence also offers access to both private and charter helicopters via the helipad at Shigar, which is 10-minute's drive from the Residence. The residence offers complimentary meet and greet services at both the airport and the helipad.
By road: access by road is via Gilgit (170kms/5 hours) along the Indus Gorge. Gilgit is 573 kms from Rawalpindi.
The territory of Gilgit-Baltistan borders Afghanistan to the north, China to the northeast, the Pakistani-administered state of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) to the south, and the Indian-administered state of Jammu and Kashmir to the southeast. It is a non-self-governing territory under Pakistani control.
