Arusha to Western Serengeti
0800hrs Depart Arusha Airport on scheduled Flight to arrive at Grumeti Airstrip in Western Serengeti at 0930hrs. You will be met by your Camp Driver Guide and transfer to Kirawira Luxury Tented Camp for check-in with game viewing en-route.
Kirawira Luxury Tented Camp
Close to the Grumeti River, famed for its giant crocodiles, perched on a hill with uninterrupted views of the plains of the Western Serengeti, Kirawira Camp offers its guests a luxurious tented African safari. Kirawira is a reincarnation of a Victorian tented camp and guests enjoy luxurious accommodation, a valet service, superb house cuisine, fine wines and the best of East African hospitality.
Throughout the camp, native wood, African art and tented canvas are combined with typical Victorian and colonial furniture to recall a bygone era of explorers, pioneers and the early colonial settlers. The accommodation is housed in de luxe individual tents set on wooden platforms. Each has a spacious double bedroom and bathroom, styled from the Victorian period with African art, and a private verandah from which there are spectacular views over the endless Serengeti.
Lunch in the Camp followed by an afternoon at leisure to enjoy a swim in the Camp swimming Pool or opt to enjoy breath-taking views of the plains from your tent deck.
1600hrs enjoy an afternoon game viewing drive before returning to the lodge in time early evening.
Dinner and Overnight at the Kirawira Luxury Tented Camp

Enjoy breakfast in the Camp. Two full days of game viewing drives in the Park. Vast and sensational, the Serengeti covers 14,763 sq km of endlessly rolling savannah plains, and is Tanzania’s first-established, largest and most famous park. Here, twice a year, propelled by the rains, 1.3 million wildebeest, 200,000 zebra and 300,000 Thomson’s gazelle gather to undertake an 800 km trek to new grazing lands. The precise timing of the migration varies but generally the herbivores congregate and move out at the end of May, sometimes over a period of weeks, sometimes over a period of as little as three or four days. Heading west on a roughly triangular 800-km circuit they head to the Masai Mara National Reserve of Kenya. When the grazing here is exhausted the tide of herbivores turns and reverses its progress returning to the short grass plains of Tanzania.
All meals and overnight at the Kirawira Luxury Tented Camp.
Western Serengeti – Arusha and departure
After breakfast at the camp, transfer to Grumeti Airstrip for your scheduled flight to Arusha departing at 0935hrs flight to Arusha to arrive at 1215hrs.
Met on arrival by a Serena Hotels’s Representative and drive to Serena Mountain Village Hotel for lunch. Later transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your homebound flight.
The package cost offer will include following services: -
- 03 nights on full board basis at the Kirawira Luxury Tented Camp inclusive of meals, beverages, laundry.
- Game viewing drives in custom Safari 4X4WD Cruiser on “Seat in bus” basis with services of English speaking driver guide.
- Park entrance fees

- Lunch at Serena Mountain Village Hotel, Arusha
- Airport/Airstrip transfers as specified in the itinerary
The Package excludes the following services:-

Terms & conditions
Rates: All rates are quoted on a per person basis unless otherwise stated and are inclusive of all relevant taxes, levies, surcharges and service charges. Tour costs are based on all known costs and rates of exchange as at the 01st July 2010. Should these be subject to change in the interim (due to reasons beyond the control of Serena Hotels), they will be passed on to the client. Serena Hotels retains the right to alter any arrangements (as outlined above), which may become necessary due to prevailing local conditions/and/or events beyond our control.
Confirmations and deposits: Upon confirmation of your safari details, we will require a 25% non-refundable deposit on the total cost of the tour, the balance of which must be paid 30 days prior to your arrival. We regret that in the absence of the above, we will be unable to confirm your safari; and in the absence of our receipt of full payment as indicated, your reservation will be cancelled (with the forfeit of the 25% deposit indicated).
Cancellations: All cancellations must be made in writing to Serena Hotels at the address indicated below. Cancellations will be incurred as indicated below:
Between 30-45 days prior to date of commencement of tour:no refund of deposit.
Below 30 days prior to the date of the commencement of the tour no refund of the remaining tour costs.
Refunds/cancellation levies: We regret that in the event that any portion of your safari is unused (after the safari has commenced) no refunds regarding the unused portion will be possible. Note: these
cancellation terms do not include the cancellation penalties levied on airfares (locally or internationally).
Payment: We accept payment via the following credit cards: Visa, Access/Master Card, American Express, JCB, Senator, Diners Club International. We also accept proprietary traveller’s cheques. We regret that we are unable to accept personal cheques in the absence of prior clearance.
Child policy: Children under the age of two sharing a room with one or two adults are accommodated on a complimentary basis. Children between the ages of two and twelve sharing a room with one or two adults will be charged 50% of the adult rate or 75% of this rate if they are accommodated in a separate room. Young adults between the age of 13 and 17 years of age will be charged 75% of the adult rate regardless of whether they are sharing a room with their accompanying adults, or occupying a room of their own.
Tour completion preclusion: Serena Hotels retains the right to deny completion of the stated tour (as outlined above) to any person who, for whatsoever reason, is deemed to have caused undue hazard or inconvenience to his/her fellow travellers.
