The Serena Employee Wellness Program is a flexible approach designed to respond to the peculiar health needs within the Serena fraternity. The Wellness Program takes a holistic look at health-related conditions facing us at the workplace and actively seeks ways of preventing & reducing occurrence of these problems through a participatory approach.
Program Goal
It is our desire to promote healthy lifestyle choices among employees that will enable them realize their fullest potential. The Wellness program deals with a whole spectrum of health-related issues from Safety at the workplace, HIV/AIDS to Healthy Living, Nutrition & Stress.
Our overall program goal is “to reduce incidence of injury, communicable and non-communicable diseases within the Serena fraternity and its environs by promoting behaviours that encourage adoption of a wellness lifestyle through awareness creation and establishment of procedures that uphold safety at the workplace”.
Policy
To anchor the program we have instituted policies such as Health & Safety, HIV/AIDS, Sexual Harassment and Alcohol & Drug Abuseas part of the Wellness approach.

So far we have trained 175 Wellness Champions in Kenya and are rolling out
the program throughout the region. |

Training Programs
The Serena Wellness Program is designed around a Peer Education model. Serena employees are trained as Wellness Champions and use a participatory approach to reach out to their peers with Behavioral Change messages that aims to empower the employees to make informed lifestyle choices.
The training module covers diverse topics such as HIV/AIDS, Lifestyle-induced illnesses and Occupational Health and Safety.
Community Participation
The Wellness Program has a strong Community intervention component.
Partnerships
We have partnered with institutions to provide financial and technical support to the program.
