Luxury Tented Camp with Hotel Amenities

If you are looking to enjoy the experience of sleeping in a tent and enjoying the sounds the animals at night but not ready to give up the luxury services and amenities of a hotel then this is definitely the right place.

The tents are beautifully designed, with a very luxurious aesthetic to them but unlike most camps are also fitted spa-like washrooms, great showers and ample plugs so there is no issue with charging everything at night. The tents are well spaced so you don't hear what is going on at the next tent. There are an abundance of animals in the area so it is very likely you will hear the lions and other animals roaming past at night.

The main camp area has a large lounge area with a bar for your pre/post dinner drinks and offers a good selection of drinks. The food is good but there is definitely limited selection and a bit hard if you are looking for something other than the options of the day.

The staff is very friendly and are very quick for escorts to and from the tent once the sun has gone down.

Having done a few different tented camps, this was definitely the most hotel-like and would definitely recommend it if you are looking for something a little more luxurious than the true tented-camp experience.

Very luxurious tented camp in the Serengeti

We stayed in two tented camps in two different areas in the central Serengeti. One of them was Mbuze Mawe.

We had a lovely tent but only the walls were canvas. There was a tiled floor. There was running hot water.

There was a large reception area and lounge and a large partly open dining tent. The food was upscale with lots of choice.

So if you want an luxurious glamping experience you cannot go wrong here. We were fine with it, but in the end preferred the smaller simpler tented camp we had stayed in for the three previous days.

Great safari finale

We were a party of eighteen from Canada, and were finishing our 10 day safari in Kenya and Tanzania with our visit to the Serengeti. This was quite the finale, with a wonderful stay in this incredible tented camp. Definitely not your standard camping experience: two huge beds with separate ensuite bathroom and double sinks and spacious living area. Ironically this was the best WIFI that we had encountered in our African travels. Another nice touch was the phone, to contact reception when you wished to go to dinner after dark. Security escorted you to and from your quarters in case you encountered animals! We saw buffalos, hyenas, and hyrax on our way back to the tent. Food was very good-I had an excellent Tanzanian dish of kingfish fillets with local vegetables and potatoes for dinner on my last night.
The only hitch occurred at checkout time: there was no internet connection available and we had to pay our bill in cash, which we were attempting to keep for our last few days in Zanzibar. Still, a great place to stay!

Beautiful location among the boulders and great staff

We spent two days in this lodging and everything was wonderful, including the tent, bathroom areas, food and service staff. We learned Swahili from the staff, enjoyed all of the different Tanzania beers and highly recommend this lodging.
