Just Book It!

Our stay here was amazing from start to finish. The staff are so friendly and welcoming and food is amazing. We had Venus, Sirilhija and Mwanahamisi serving us and they were all so attentive- a real credit to the lodge. The chef, Memus, was also fantastic. He came to our table each day and explained the dishes that he was going to prepare and always checked to make sure everything was OK during the meal. There was so much food - you will not go hungry! They even had a birthday cake for me - a real treat. The service was so personal- from Esther in reception to security and all the 'behind the scenes' staff. It was real family atmosphere and great teamwork. The accommodation was superb and had everything you would need. Our safari rangers were fantastic. Elieda and Samora were so attentive. They made sure we maximised our game drives and we saw everything from impala, hippos, elephant, cheetahs and leopards to lions, lionesses and also their cubs. Thank you to everyone for making our stay so memorable.

Our first but wonderful stay

We spent three nights at Mbuzi Mawe Serena Camp. We are impressed with the good location and the great staff of this camp. The area around the uroismaic with rocks on which you can meet lions and rock goats (mbuzi mawe). A few minutes away from the camp you can meet flocks of buffalo, elephants, zebras, impali, etc. We will definitely visit Mbuzi Mawe Serena Camp in June

Unique property with unique location

When we arrived at Mbuzi Mawe, I felt like I had stepped onto a movie about a safari. Yes we stayed in "tents" but these are tents with real floors, real beds, hot water, and 24-hour electricity (and Wi-fi). At the same time this is very much the wild as when our escort came to take us to dinner he pointed out several African Buffalo less than 5 yards from the doors of our tents and we absolutely heard the lions at night. Our dinner was excellent - be sure to try the Serengeti Balls (they are amazing chocolate cake balls) - and the local Tanzanian dish was highly flavorful. This was the only place on our safari where we were given the option of picking what we wanted for lunch the following day in some level of detail which was nice. We had also arranged a brief walking safari. We were accompanied by a nature guide who provided us with an interesting orientation to the flora and fauna of the area and adapted our route when part of the path was blocked by buffalo. We were also joined by one of the park rangers too. The walk was not long or difficult and it was a nice chance for us to see things on foot instead of from a vehicle and is something I would recommend if you have the chance.
