Tanzania Highlights Safari

Staying at Ngorongoro Serena was a highlight of our safari. The lodge sits right on the rim of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, and the view over the crater is simply spectacular. Waking up to the mist rising from the crater floor was unforgettable. The rooms were comfortable, the staff was friendly, and the location is unbeatable for early morning crater drives. Even though we stayed just one night, it was a truly special experience.

Enjoyed a lovely Valentine’s Day dinner with a complimentary glass of champagne and roses. One of the gardeners/naturalists named "Mike" provided me with an impromptu walk through the garden nursery as well as the trees and flowers in the gardens around the hotel; he was very informative about the flora and fauna and made my stay extra special. Saw a waterbuck mother with a calf and elephants coming to feed during our brief walk!

I absolutely loved coming here! The rooms were beautiful, the scenery was amazing and the staff were welcoming, wonderful, and absolutely phenomenal! The indigenous community did a traditional dance in the evening putting on a wonderful performance. It was breathtaking to see the Maasai dance and song! The food was spectacular!! The animals were a wonderful plus!! I hope to return someday!!

We spent two nights of a 23 day safari at this large lodge on the rim of the Ngorongoro crater. All rooms have a magnificent view of the crater. Our room was very nice with a lovely balcony, tea making facilities and an excellent shower. There is central heating as the nights are chilly at this altitude. The only reason for the four star review is the package tour feel to the property. It seemed to cater mainly for tour groups on one week whistle-stop safaris. The dining room felt very noisy and congested, and all meals were buffet style. The staff were very professional but had no time to chat due to the number of guests they had to look after. Our main reason for staying here was the proximity to the crater descent road. It meant we could access the park a few hours before the hordes arrived from Karatu. For that reason I would definitely recommend this lodge.

Positive: A wonderful stay. Lots of beautiful furnitures. Every detail was meticulously thought out. Attention to the guest. Beds and bathrooms were prepared beautifully. Excellent cuisine. The amazing viev in Ngorogoro Creter.We highly recommend this apartment. The standard is very good.

Great hotel and larger than the other Serena hotel lodges. It is located on the rim of this enormous volcanic eruption that occurred over two million years ago. It is slightly cooler here with an altitude of 2400 meter above sea level. That is why you find lit fire places on the property that definitely enrich the ambiance Don't miss the Massai dance around 6 pm in the main lounge. The jumping and African vocal sounds heals the heart before the mind The room layout is comfortable and decorated with primitive animal drawings on the wall. Each room overlooks the whole crater a true wonder of the world. In early mornings you can spot large animals grazing outside your balcony Best time to visit is end of January, the weather is pleasant and grounds are lush green. It is good to spend two nights here. One night was not enough for this property

The lodge is perfectly located right on the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater, offering breathtaking panoramic views that you simply cannot find anywhere else. The rooms are beautifully designed with a traditional African touch, blending perfectly with the surrounding environment. Waking up to misty crater views and fresh mountain air was magical. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and very quiet, allowing complete relaxation after long game drives. The staff were exceptional—very professional, warm, and always willing to help. From reception to restaurant service, everyone made us feel welcome and well taken care of. The food was delicious with a good variety, catering well to both local and international tastes. One of the best things about this lodge is its proximity to the crater floor, which makes early morning game drives very convenient. After a full day of wildlife viewing, returning to such a peaceful and scenic place was truly rewarding. If you are visiting Ngorongoro Crater and want a lodge that offers stunning views, comfort, and an authentic safari feel, I highly recommend Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge. It’s a place that turns a safari stay into a lifetime memory.
