Awesome stays at a watering hole

Positive: The location inside Ol Pejeta conservancy directly at a watering hole is incredible. We had tent number 1 which was right at the watering hole. We saw herds of elephants, zebras, buffalo, warthogs, antelopes and many more - directly from our front porch. The game drives were astounding. We stayed for four nights and saw lions on two drives, one including a hunt by the females of a warthog. Fascinating to watch them set up as a group. On another drive we saw a cheetah take down a warthog. Not a good time to be a warthog:-) Huge thanks to our guide, Nathifo, who did all the game drives with us. Sure knew what was just already seen and this adjusted as needed. The facilities are in perfect shape with a comfy bed and bathroom in the tent. The tent had another roof on top so it is comfy. Since it gets cold at night, they provide a hot water bottle and plenty of blankets. Our housekeeping team was perfect, laundry done in a day, bed set up for the night. The food was served buffet style in the dining room, where our server, Harrison, always welcomed is with a big smile and a bit of conversation. The food was delicious but too much:-) Finally, Carlton at the front office always struck up a conversation about our stay and what else we could possibly need. We learned a lot from all these great people who we met at Sweetwaters!.

This was the first place we stayed on our safari and remained our favourite

This was the first place we stayed on our safari and remained our favourite throughout the entire trip. The tents were so lovely. They were comfortable and sufficiently luxurious ( including hot water bottles at night!) Yet managed to retain the authentic tent experience. The watering hole also made it special as we saw so much wildlife at it which was surreal and amazing in equal measure. The food here was of the best quality we experienced throughout our time in Kenya.

The service and tents were world class

The service and tents were world class and highly recommend because of the game drives especially night game drive. We saw a whole pride of lions! Huge thank you to Stephen in the restaurant as his service was world class! Stephen was a big reason why we loved our stay!

This place is awesome!

This place is awesome! Definitely recommend it. The tents were clean and looked great, plus the view of Mount Kenya was incredible. We’d sit on the tent’s veranda and watch all kinds of wildlife passing by—rhinos, deer, water buffalo, giraffes, gazelles, warthogs, zebras and more. Tons of different birds too. The staff were super friendly and the service was top-notch. The food was some of the best we had on the entire safari. It’s right inside the park near the equator marker, so we snapped a bunch of pictures without any hassle. We had a really great time there.

Beautiful accommodation in Ol Pejeta

Positive: Everything was wonderful, what a special place!! Our ‘tent’ was very well furnished, with an extremely comfortable bed (and the hot water bottles that are brought round to everyone at night is really thoughtful). We were right by the watering hole -where zebras, rhinos and antelope visited during our two day stay. Close by the main Ol Pejeta gate and great access to the Conservancy. It seems the pool is quite new (?), a very nice facility for a cool down between game drives. The food was fantastic and the staff were very friendly, highly recommended!.

Amazing game watching

Positive: Amazing location. Phenomenal game watching, to watch rhinos at their watering hole from your verandah was a privilege. Wonderful staff.

Perfect accommodation, good food, and great views

We kicked off our 12 day safari at Sweetwater's, and had a fantastic time. The day we came in there were rhinos with babies at the waterhole which was such a nice first glimpse into what we would be seeing on our drives. No sooner we pulled in, our bags were taken and organised while we checked in, all of it was so easy and ran so smoothly after being in the car for a few hours. The front of house was fantastic and accommodating getting us settled. Our room was beautiful with views of the wildlife, we woke up to the sounds of lions roaring on several mornings which was incredible. The room itself was perfect, clean and very comfortable (stayed in the deluxe tent), we had a turn down every night which was also very nice. Lunch and dinner at the hotel restaurant was buffet style, with great, fresh options and they also had a cooking station for fresh pasta. You always had a bread basket with fresh rolls and a daily choice of soup to start if you wished. Our server was very attentive and lovely. We also enjoyed a cocktail from the bar and sat outside and shared a drink with a view to the elephants that had visited the watering hole. We had a lovely stay at Sweetwater's and would recommend them to anyone visiting Ol Pej conservancy.

Excellent location, friendly staff, and classic tented safari experience

Sweetwaters Serena Camp is beautifully located within the conservancy, offering a very authentic tented lodge safari feel. The setting is peaceful and scenic, with lovely views and a true sense of being close to nature. The tents are well maintained, spacious, and comfortable, blending nicely with the surroundings while still offering good amenities. The staff were excellent throughout our stay—very friendly, attentive, and always happy to help, which really added to the overall experience. Food was nice and consistently good, with decent variety and well-prepared meals. It’s particularly suitable for Indian vegetarians, which was appreciated. Game viewing during our stay was a bit limited compared to other parks, but we did enjoy seeing the resident elephant that regularly comes in and out of the camp, which was a unique highlight. Overall, a very pleasant stay with great service and an excellent location—ideal for those looking for a relaxed, classic safari lodge experience in a beautiful setting.
