Visit to the Shetani Caves and Lava Flows in Tsavo West

Stretching eight kilometres long and over a kilometre wide, the Shetani lava flow is a dramatic black river of solid magma, the result of volcanic eruptions just 240 years ago. Named shetani, meaning “evil” in Kiswahili, local legend says the earth opened in fury, spilling fire and darkness across the land.
The terrain is rugged and uneven, making for a challenging but fascinating climb across a surreal landscape shaped by ancient geological force.
