His Highness Prince Karim Al-Hussaini, Aga Khan IV

His Highness Prince Karim Al-Hussaini, Aga Khan IV, 49th hereditary Imam of the Shia Ismaili Muslims and descendant of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), passed away peacefully in Lisbon on 4 February 2025, aged 88, surrounded by his family. 

Aga Khan IV established Serena Hotels in 1970 with a vision to develop tourism potential and leverage hospitality as a catalyst for economic growth, cultural heritage preservation, and environmental sustainability in the regions we serve. Serena Hotels has a portfolio of 33 properties across 8 countries in Africa and Asia and remain deeply committed to sustainable development and community empowerment.

The management and staff of Serena Hotels offer our condolences to the family of His Highness and to the Ismaili community worldwide.
