    Today, the Serena Hotels group is sending off Ahmed Noorani, a young talented Kenyan who is a member of the Kenyan National Table tennis junior team.

    In an intimate handover ceremony held at the Nairobi Serena Hotel, an excited Ahmed Noorani, who is a Form 1 student at Moi Educational Centre High School, will be allowed to realise his dream.

    On 14th of July 2024 the team will be participating in the ITTF ( International Table Tennis Federation) Africa Youth Championships in Botswana. Unfortunately, due to the Kenya Table Tennis Association facing budgetary constraints, team members have had to do look for their own means to the competition.  Serena Hotels has stepped in to assist Ahmed realize his dream to represent his country as he develops his skills in this sport.

    The sponsorship which will take care of his travel and accommodation costs, is under one of Serena Hotels’ core values of sports diplomacy. It is a highlight of the hospitality group’s commitment to local communities and development, whilst highlighting what makes the brand Serena Hotels unique.

    The expansion process of Nairobi Serena Hotel which started in 2017 has been completed.

    The expansion process of Nairobi Serena Hotel which started in 2017 has been completed. The upgrade which was done through funding from a Sh2 billion loan from French fund Proparco will see the hotel boasts of 199 rooms, refurbished modern banqueting facilities among other amenities, boosting it's ability to host and accommodate more visitors as it competes with rival hotel chain in the city like Vila Rosa Kempinski for customers.

This significant agreement underscores a long-term commitment to sustainable tourism and conservation within the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

    Under this new lease agreement, Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge will continue to provide exceptional hospitality services while embracing innovative green energy solutions. This initiative aligns with global sustainability goals and the lodge’s dedication to reducing its carbon footprint and environmental impact.

    Commitment to Sustainability

    Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge celebrated its connection to the national power grid, a milestone that will eliminate the lodge’s reliance on diesel generators for power production. This significant development underscores the lodge’s commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship.

    A Vision for the Future

    Serena Hotels remains committed to pursuing innovation and expanding its distinctive portfolio of sports and leisure guest experiences. In line with this dedication to fostering sporting excellence, Serena Hotels proudly honors the recent achievement of the Kenya National Archery Team in Mauritius during the Africa Archery Open Championship held in August 2023 by hosting a special breakfast event at the Nairobi Serena Hotel.

    Serena Hotels remains committed to pursuing innovation and expanding its distinctive portfolio of sports and leisure guest experiences. In line with this dedication to fostering sporting excellence, Serena Hotels proudly honors the recent achievement of the Kenya National Archery Team in Mauritius during the Africa Archery Open Championship held in August 2023 by hosting a special breakfast event at the Nairobi Serena Hotel.

    Competing against 8 African Countries and a field of 55 Archers in the males and female categories, they faced intense competition from the top competing Nations. Enduring humid and gusty winds, the Kenyan Team achieved silver and bronze medals: Top Kenyan Female Archer Shehzana Anwar (Silver - team event and Bronze - mixed event), Top Kenyan Male Archer Rizwan Virji (Bronze - team event), Agnes Kirigio (Silver - team event) and Diram Elema (Siver - Team event). The Championship in Mauritius was an important event in preparing the team for the upcoming Olympic qualifier to be held in Tunisia in November 2023. The Kenya Team Coach, Tabassum Anwar and Secretary General, Paul Ochieng, from the Kenya Archery Sports Organization (KASO) will lead the team.

    During the 4th edition of the Global Best Practices Awards 2022, Mara Serena Safari Lodge received the ‘Country Best Practices Award 2022 Kenya’. The independent
    international jury recognized the Lodge for its outstanding approach to professional textile care through eco-friendly, sustainable and energy efficient laundry services.

    During the 4th edition of the Global Best Practices Awards 2022, Mara Serena Safari Lodge received the ‘Country Best Practices Award 2022 Kenya’. The independent
    international jury recognized the Lodge for its outstanding approach to professional textile care through eco-friendly, sustainable and energy efficient laundry services.

    The appointed jury awards points to the nominees under the criteria of quality; sustainability; business model and service concept; and innovation. Those with the highest points become the winners of the Country Best Practice Award.

    On 14 October 2022, during the opening ceremony of the 81st Skål World Congress in Croatia, Serena Hotels was recognized for its participation in the 2022 Skål International Sustainable Tourism Awards. Under the ‘Marine and Coastal’ category, Serena Beach Resort and Spa presented its contribution towards the endangered sea turtle conservation program. The award criteria covered carbon offsetting and climate change mitigation.

The Resort initiatives are used to promote the importance of environmental responsibility, marine conservation, and the impact of marine debris and plastic pollution.
